Final table heads up character building momment

Playing in the March Melee tourney last night I fought a long fight over 4 hours to get to the final table. I entered the table with an average amount of chips and came back from a tough beat that nearly busted me to be one of two players left and have a commanding chip lead with the payout only going to 1st place. ($100 and advance to $1000 final). At a break I was up 180,000 chips to 85,000 of my opponent. That break seem to be my downfall. The dealer all of a sudden decided I wasnt going to even get dealt a small pair for the next 6 to 8 hands! This was the perfect time for my opponent to come back from break with an all or nothing attitude. He started out bumping every hand which I could not even begin to call with the rag down cards I was being dealt. At this point I began losing my patience. Which is usually the best part of my game. Finally getting at least an Ace in my down cards I decided to call one of his raises. With A8 in my hand some low cards came out on the flop. He continued the same size bet and I felt it was worth another call feeling he has been bluffing for a while now. Well ofcouse after the turn I still only had Ace high and he goes all in. Hmmmm...now I was down to about 70,000 and realized my lack of patience had cost me. Knowing all he needed was a small pair at that point I couldnt risk the call. He did say after my fold that he had A 10 which the 10 kicker still had me. I guess I'll never know what he really had. At any rate now the game has changed in a matter of about 9 hands after break. The next few hands went back and forth until I finally got some good down cards. A J. I figured at that point I'd let him do his raise preflop and I'd go all in. And he did raise and I went all in. He had Q 8, to my AJ and the race was on. Ofcourse the only card that paired was his 8. Another lessor starting hand catches all in preflop to end my run. UGH !! How frustrating! I had cashed in 3 other tourneys yesterday and was having a great day only to have it all end like that. I get 2nd place after a commanding heads up final table chip lead in a 500 player tourney that only pays out to 1st place. Definitely a character building momment. Got to love no limit holdem :)
