I think its daniel negraneau ...for several reasons one he is able to make the game fun for all at the table and the same time he is amassing info from everyhting a players has to say. there is a lot to learn about strategy from any pro from no one plays the players better then daniel.    Report

If playing ability and class at the tables are the two primary criteria - then Johnny Chan is in my top three. Chip Reese would be high on the list. For pure playing ability and smarts - it is Bobby Baldwin - a great player who figured out - running the gaming house rather than playing in the game is where the real money is located. Other notables - Jennifer Harmon, both Brunsons, and Daniel N. when he is not trying to set rebuy records. Agree with the comment about Harrington - wish he played more.    Report

The best player in my eyes is Phil Ivey, the guy is phenomenal cash game player, the only knack on him though is his patience. He has to learn to become more patient and play better hands. He likes to take lots of risks, and players now days tend to just call him a lot. If he started playing better hands more often he would be very tough to play against. But as for reading players there is no better player in the game at reading opponents at least it seems true to me. I mean you do got Daniel Negraneau who is also a very good at reading people as well, he would be second on my list. However Negraneau seems to use a different tactic in reading his opponents, he always talks and picks off his tells off of people by talking to them. Ivey on the other hand is quiet and picks up tells just naturally. To me this is just amazing...can't figure out how he made these moves.    Report
