Some players (mike matsuoew or however you spell it) criticize the WPT for catering to viewers by making the blinds go up faster than other tournaments. He says that is testing luck and not skill. I disagree, I think beating someone at the final table with fast blinds make u a better player able to make fast decisions.
Anyone have any comments on faster blinds for more exciting television poker?

not sure how this should matter for tv cuz its not beenin shown in real time.they cut and edit every sec of their shows so the tourney time should have no effect on the tv show.although i was wrong once before i dont think it matters.

actually after readin your post again maybe the shorter blinds make for bigger pots because everyone is runnin out of time=better tv.i saw some speed poker where you only had 30 or so secs to make a decision and the blinds seemed to b e goin up very fast.it was not very fun to watch butt that may of been because there were no famous players in it.

When the blinds are high relative to the total number of chips in play, the game becomes more about who catches the cards. Simply put, a pot or two of any size can result in major shifts in the chip rankings. And you also can't afford to play tight because the blinds and antes will eat into your stack very quickly. So the pros who say a slower blind structure increases the skill factor are correct.

I saw that speed poker play show too-Maisonpoker.com is the site based on the show and they have a freeroll to get on that TV show.

That's Mike's only complaint- he should show some compassion for the viewers having to listen Van Patten.
The comments by Van Patten and Mike Sexton are over dubbed after the game - WPT give Van Patten new writers, a valium, a muzzle, anything but his inane remarks:
"How could he do that!" Well ***, he took his hand and placed them on the chips and pushed them into the post. Maybe some analysis of the situation and why it was a good or poor play.
"What a suck out, I don't bel;ieve it!" Another brillant commentary on the obvious
and dozens more just like it.

I agree with whoever is downsizing mike the mouth..he does complain too much. But I dont like the WPT because they make the blinds go up too fast...thats why you only see 1 or 2 pros at eery final table...they have to get lucky to get there. if the blinds went up slower, there would be like 4 pros at every table and 2 ameteurs...thats just my opinion though...

I agree with Arjon here... The skill factor starts to diminish with those huge blinds and card catching/luck takes over. A perfect case if the Superstars of Poker 1,2 and 3.. By the time the 3rd person is gone q-7 off seems like gold with the blinds they are at.
