Ive Been testing out a new theory that it make alot more sense to play less hand earlier in a free-roll tourney than it does to play every hand. This centers around the idea that alot of people will be playing loose looking to get lucky. For my theory to work ive found i have to push most of my chips in when i do get a hand. Am i crazy or is there something to this????

I would say it depends on the people. If you are playing in a big freeroll with over 1000 people or more there are a lot of people just trying to double up fast and going all in with nothing just in hopes to catch something. I've never really liked those types of freerolls myself because with that many people luck comes in play much more than skill. I myself like to play in freerolls or buy-ins with 300 people or less, better odds of placing in the money there. That being said I'd rather just play the cards and the people , if they are playing loose I tighten up some and let them do the betting for me. Because I found that a lot times if you are just setting back and folding and then hit a hand; when you push a lot of chips most people are just going to flod , knowing you must have hit something. I think Chris Ferguson said it best when he said "Just concentrate on playing solid poker and let the chips fall where they may."

Never count a person out until the fall of the last card.

I have found over the last few years that playing tight aggressive in the early part of these types of games is a good strategy, plenty of idiots will donk off their chips so just play right and maximise ur good hands. The only problem with this strategy is u will probably suffer more beats than with a looser strategy as U will usually get your money in ahead, but as is often the case in poker U will get sucked out on.
