The ‘I have a dream’ foundation allows all students to have equal opportunity to pursue higher education and create a better world. The foundations approach is unique in that it sponsors entire grade levels of 50-100 students in under-resourced public schools or housing developments, and work with these "Dreamers" from early elementary school all the way through high school. Upon high school graduation, each Dreamer receives guaranteed tuition assistance for higher education.

The Foundation has earned the patronage of a number of successful enterprises. In the month of February 2002, Deep South volunteer employees adopted 19 underprivileged children from the Foundation. In addition to providing a $5,000 grant to I Have a Dream, David Disiere opened his 3,000-acre Cedar Bluff Ranch for a weekend to all 19 "Dreamers". Children ranging in age from 12 to 16 had their first tryst with life away from the inner city on a real working ranch. As David explained the ranching business, selling of cattle, breeding, reproduction, and life expectancy, the children toured the barns and pens.

The whole idea behind the invite was to share new experiences, tie business together with the need for formal education, and keep an eye on high school graduation. All the activities were geared towards individual and team competitions. The children participated in horseback riding, sack races, water balloon, egg throwing contests, tug-o'-war and horseshoes. David Disiere also made a firm commitment to each student to continue tracking his/her progress and help fund his/her college education. The children will again be returning to the ranch in the fall for further fun and mentoring.
