Bankroll Management for Limit Hold'em
I thought this chart / info might be helpful to other limit hold'em players. I discussed in a previous post but wanted to get into a little more detail here...
In limit hold’em a solid player can expect to have a win rate of 1 big bet per hour playing at a 9-person table. This can increase when you play short handed or on multiple tables. So if you are playing on (3) full $5/10 tables you should make on average (over hundreds of hours of play) about $30 / hour. One big advantage to the online player is the deposit bonuses and rakeback. Even if you are playing break-even poker you will be making money. This is an opportunity that the bricks and mortar casino player doesn’t have.
If you are just starting out I would recommend starting at a limit that gives you 250 big bets. With a bankroll of $500 you should start out at the $1/2 table. When you win 100 big bets you can move up to the next level. If you move up and lose those profits drop back down and rebuild. Here is chart that might help.
Limit Bankroll
$1/2 $500
$2/4 $700
$3/6 $1100
$5/10 $1700
$10/20 $2700
Using this method should help keep you from going broke. Good luck at the tables!

Re: Bankroll Management for Limit Hold'em
Since most beginners don't have a big bankroll they have to play at low limit tables to build up their bankroll safely. Unfortunately this will give a very low win rate per hour - Between 1 and 3 big bets an hour at the table. Because of this many players choose to play multiple tables to build their bankroll faster and to avoid getting bored. You won't need any bigger bankroll to play multiple tables but your win rate per hour will hopefully increase.
